Psalm 29:2… Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
One of my favorite things to do lately is to eavesdrop while my 3-year-old daughter plays. Sometimes she will reenact something I said to her earlier in the day. Like yesterday when I heard her put her bath duckies in time out. Sometimes she will talk in a high pitched voice as her dolls have conversations with one another about going to preschool or going potty. My favorite is when she makes up songs.
Last week, we caught her on video singing a little line over and over again:
It was catchy. I had her tune in my head the rest of the day. That night after I put the kids to bed, I realized that Little Miss had come up with the makings of a great worship song. One way we can worship God is to ascribe worth to him.
God is the best… father, lover, ruler, king. judge, creator, shepherd, savior, friend, warrior, protector
God is the most… powerful, just, righteous, compassionate, forgiving, glorious, gracious, merciful
I’ve been trying to get some worship sets chosen for a women’s retreat coming up later this month. I’ve been scouring my song lists trying to find things that are catchy, upbeat, soulful… But I needed this reminder. Worship can be so simple. Just telling God (and reminding ourselves) who He is. He is the best. He is the most. Thanks for the reminder, Raya Praise!
